19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been earned on hardcourt

A comeback Medvedev secured his initial championship for nearly 30 months with a win over Corentin Moutet in the competition final.

The Russian, a former top-ranked player, has endured a torrid period, managing just one match at the big events and experiencing a setback at the American major.

His unpredictability on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serving in particular - resulted in him exiting of the elite rankings and eventually parting ways with long-time mentor his previous coach.

Now collaborating with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has gradually improved in the last few weeks - culminating in a closely contested three-set win over challenger Corentin Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's initial championship following the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hardcourt after spring of that year.

The win also indicates the Russian has won twenty-one championships at twenty-one various events.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a competition with my both daughters together, so to secure a title is especially meaningful," stated ranked player Medvedev.

"This title is in dedication of my child her name, because the initial championship I achieved when my child my daughter was born was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had failed in his past six finals, comprising in the German tournament in the past months.

Medvedev's retrieving strategy and recurring emotional displays on court had prompted observers to doubt if his skill to perform at the top level was over.

Yet the athlete has altered his approach in recent weeks, attempting to come to the net and play aggressively, reinforced by an enhanced service.

He came back from a deficit in the opening set against the difficult Moutet, taking four of the concluding five exchanges to go ahead.

The competitors swapped breaks in the second set before the challenger, striving for his first professional victory, gained dominance to force a decider.

Moutet rescued 4 initial break points in a tight deciding set before the Russian secured a break to fifteen to close out the victory.

Suitably, the winner clinched the title with a rally at the net, with his opponent unable to manage a volley after a lengthy match.
